Sen. Obama's outrageous messiah complex 11

The Berkeley Beacon, Emerson College, Boston, MA

2 hours ago by Philip Primeau

Barack Obama has come a long way in a short time, evolving from promising rookie to towering national figure in just a few years. The golden-tongued senator has proven a remarkable success in red and blue states alike. His electrified foot soldiers make rival partisans seem lackadaisical, and he has surely stirred the Democrats like nobody since Robert Kennedy.

Predicting question 2 to go up in smoke 9

On this campus, the legal status of marijuana is apparently a hot-button issue. I have been solicited by hippies when I enter the Worcester Dining Commons virtually every night for the past two weeks seeking to persuade me that Question 2 - a ballot question which decriminalizes the possession and usage of small amounts of marijuana - should have my "yes" vote.

"To the left, you will see the Student Union, representing one of the most vibrant and diverse student bodies in the country. On the right, you will see, uh, a collection of tents organized by Trojan Condom, an aspect of UMass Amherst's comprehensive safe sex education program.

Huntington News, Northeastern University, Boston, MA

Students may have spotted them around campus: a set of Adirondack chairs, painted in bright colors. They may find them occupied by their peers, who are taking a rest between classes or soaking in the early days of fall.

The chairs were placed around campus at the start of the fall semester by the school's facilities department, said Charles Doughty, director of landscape operations and suburban facilities.

Calhoun should recruit men, not boys, for team 3

Nate Miles is in trouble. But he isn't the first one on the UConn men's basketball team who has been arrested, and sadly, he probably won't be the last.

Miles' expulsion from UConn last Thursday garnered national attention, and deservedly so. He is the latest in a string of men's basketball players from UConn who have allegedly broken the law and thrown a negative spotlight on our university.

The Daily Campus, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT

Independent presidential candidate and Connecticut native Ralph Nader held a rally at E.O. Smith High School Saturday night, where he spoke for two and a half hours, heavily criticizing the Democrats and Republicans for their corporate ties and encouraging students to become more active in politics.

The cell-free 'zone' 2

The Daily Collegian, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Amherst, MA

It is inevitable.

At some point in their day, UMass students will hear a cellular phone ring, and most likely, it will be their own. In the off-chance that they don't, there is an absolute certainty that they will either see or hear another student using his cell phone.

In the November election, experience matters 2

The Daily Campus, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT

During the 1992 presidential campaign, President George H. W. Bush frequently told voters that they should re-elect him because his extensive experience in foreign affairs would serve America well in a changing world. For this argument, President Bush was derided as an out-of-touch elitist trying to change the subject from his lack of ideas for helping Americans through a recession.

HBS Moms Juggle Parenting and Studies 2

Malaika is a Swahili word which means Angel. It is also the name that my sectionmate Eme Uzoebo chose for her newborn daughter a few weeks ago. Eme, an RC student from Nigeria attended classes up until a few hours before giving birth to her second child. She spent just two weeks on a maternity break, juggling her time between her newborn baby, her two year old son and her cases and she still managed to be ready to tackle the mid-term exams upon her return to classes.

You're so vain, you probably think this column is about you 2

College campuses across the nation are swarmed with a rampant infestation. Worse than rodents and more deplorable than roaches, the most common pest to plague any college campus is the cheater. Not the "I'll sell you my test from last semester" cheater, oh no he's okay in my book.

Editorial: Vehicles should have the right-of-way, not pedestrians 1

The Daily Campus, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT

45 minutes ago by Our Opinion

Everyone knows what a pain it is to drive around campus while classes are in session with the traffic, the nonexistent parking spots and of course, the jaywalking students. However, with numerous crosswalks all over campus, there is no need for pedestrians on campus to inconvenience drivers.

Outsourcing deserves some blame for financial crisis 1

The Daily Campus, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT

2 hours ago by Dan Cunningham

When most people hear about "outsourcing," they often think of corporations moving manufacturing jobs to developing countries like India or China, or American blue-collar families losing their homes and dignities. We might see sweatshops or greedy CEOs lining their wallets at the cost of the American Dream for the common person.

Miles away from Storrs 1

The Daily Campus, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT

4 hours ago by Kevin Meacham

Nate Miles allegedly made some poor decisions and he has been expelled from UConn as a result. And rightly so.

The university, not to mention its basketball program, (or its head coach), has been given a black eye. People have begun to question whether the program is becoming decadent, accepting players of questionable character.

Not ready for prime time 1

Saturday night's game against North Carolina was kind of like the movie "Good Luck, Chuck."

First, it was boring. Then it got kind of funny. Then it got really bad and I had to turn it off.

How bad was it?

Jonathan the Husky pulled the plug on the field lights just so he didn't have to watch the rest of the game.
