Which is the best international company in quality of Management? McDonald's! The traditional winners, Procter & Gamble and General Electric, have been toppled in the latest Fortune ratings.
Bear Stearns, reveredĀ as the "Most Admired" securities firm in Fortune's List in 2005-2007, with 13,500 employees, is dissolving into thin air.

The crowd ambushed the stage and there was no stopping them; afterHOURS became a dance party last night.
After a 45-minute wait Wednesday, Gregg Gillis, better known by his DJ moniker Girl Talk, played mixes to an eager sold-out crowd of Northeastern students at afterHOURS, who had waited for hours in line on Sunday to get tickets to see the Pittsburgh native work his magic.

Say what you will about our politics - you've really got to hand it to the United States for producing bizarre trends. We are the country that has produced an insatiable lust for Ugg boots, exorbitantly priced coffee drinks and Tila Tequila. These trends are puzzling, for sure, but occasionally justifiable (I myself will admit to nursing an expensive Frappucino habit.

A little while back, The Herald published a column ("The Palin-ization of Brown," Sept. 16) which painted a picture of Brown if it were governed by the same principles that seemed to govern the selection of Sarah Palin as the Republican Party's vice presidential nominee.

A year ago, sophomores were just starting to think about looking
for housing off campus, if at all. Many turned their eyes to Archstone 2000 Commonwealth Ave., the spacious apartments located
only a 10-minute walk from campus.
The building is not available to sophomores looking to live off campus
next year, though.

Congratulations to all the first year honors! May many more come your way. Congratulations to all the other ECs. If your stories come anywhere close to the ones that emerged from Section H (Jagadesh!), you deserve a lot of respect. As for the RCs, welcome to HBS! Some of you are going to be vying to be first year honors and other bakers (I am expecting a fresh loaf of bread on my porch every Sunday ? ).

Stop saying you go to Brown like you are an integral part of the University. You are not. You are a customer. You are as much a part of Brown as you are of Wal-Mart. You "go" to Brown the same way you "go" to the supermarket to buy your groceries. But you don't go to Brown in the way that you mean.

An opinion piece on the budding effects of the ongoing financial and economic crisis on HBS students' career choices, and how these effects should be seen in a positive light.
It was worded simply and spelled out succinctly: "There will be significantly more oversight, and return profiles will go down".

Welcome to the wonderful world of off-campus housing. However, as much as it seems a year of off-campus residence would be full of new freedoms and possibilities given the extra distance between you and the ever-present eye of the Boston College Police Department (BCPD), Steve Montgomery, off-campus community liaison, is here to make sure that this new lifestyle is not all fun and games.

Presentation. As someone who works in the Assumption College Admissions Office, I hear a lot about presentation. Everything from tour routes to the letters and brochures you get as prospective college students are analyzed for their presentation and whether they would leave a positive, lasting impression.

The definition of freshman, according to urbandictionary.com is a first year student in high school or college that tends to travel in large packs for protection. For some reason, upperclassmen seem to think that freshmen are the lowest form of human beings to ever walk the earth.

We live in times when technology is changing our every day lives faster than ever before. Historically, the agricultural and industrial revolutions were extremely rapid, but today's technological changes are many times faster. This means that we need to be familiar with them in order to be able to use the constant change to help other people and ourselves.

This election year presents the United States with a historic choice. Yes, America might wake up on November 5 and discover it has elected a Harvard Law School graduate president. As this compilation of quotes from over the last few weeks shows, some commentators just can't handle the prospect.

I like to remember Paul Newman playing Brick Pollitt opposite Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Perhaps it isn't his most memorable role, and even though it was an Oscar-nominated performance, it could hardly be seen as the peak of his career. Nevertheless, this is the way I like to remember him, with some of the best yet to come, in an amazing performance, in a role that wasn't easy to play, within a cast that not only had talent but also the commanding presence to go with it.

"Now, Daddy! I want it nooowww!" This is the phrase Veruca Salt whines incessantly throughout Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. In the movie, after singing a solo about wanting the world, Veruca gets her comeuppance. That film came out in 1971, but since then, not much has changed.

The air was crispening: autumn had arrived, and OCI was in full swing. These were the times, Fenno thought, that tried men's souls. He'd been in top form striding into class, smartly clad in his new suit and crest-covered cravat. This above all was the day he'd been waiting for: the interview with the firm of his dreams. Rising that morning, Fenno's mind had swirled with the imagined spoils of victory: the corner office high above Midtown, where groveling Wall Street clients would lay their last (but still vast) riches at his feet, begging in fealty for his carefully-crafted legal acumen, desperate to save their dwindling fortunes from the regulators' wrathful clutch.

Locked in the moment, first- date sex can be a wonderfully revelatory experience. Deep down, even cynics will yearn for that Before Sunrise moment of quiet connection, even if it turns out to be a blossoming example of true, honest, undoubted love. Passionate, unrestrained and uninhibited, there are no burdens of expectation, no awkward hang-ups.

Last week, a friend and I were walking down the street and we couldn't help but notice a group of young college students yelling and screaming without a care. Their, "Yeah dude!" and constant references to Dane Cook jokes made me roll my eyes and turn my head in annoyance to mutter the common phrase, "douchebag.

Fall is probably the best season, and while I say that about every season as it approaches, I really mean it this time. Smart Ass Voice Writers unanimously agree that nothing beats the excitement of fall. I can't help but smile as I walk out my front door on a crisp fall morning, wearing a scarf or sweater that hasn't seen the light of day in at least three months.

As noted last week, Smart Ass Voice Writers do enjoy the fall season very much. Sure, the leaves change color, and the temperature drops a bit. Yes ladies, it's another excuse to go shopping and get whatever's "in" this fall. And although Tom Brady won't be joining the Patriots on the field this season, football is another reason to enjoy the fall. One aspect of fall that has become just about as normal to us as football is on Sunday, is playoff baseball in Boston.

It seemed no one went home empty-handed this weekend from Boston's annual back-to-school event, CollegeFest.
Despite the rain, thousands of college students flocked to Hynes Convention Center, where $10 admission and a valid college ID gained students access to free samples and prizes from visiting companies like Trojan, JetBlue, Monster and Playboy.
