Partnership produces fun-filled musical

Spurred by the dissatisfaction of Wheaton students not being able to participate in more musicals, SGA created a partnership with a community theater in Attleboro, Triboro Musical Theater (TMT). The collaborative effort culminated in the production of My Favorite Year, a fun musical about a writer for a live comedy TV show in the 1950s.

SGA makes "green" competition to raise awareness

The Student Government Association (SGA) will sponsor The Greener Wheaton Competition throughout February. The competition will be a campus-wide effort to reduce the school's carbon footprint from Feb. 1-28. "Through The Greener Wheaton Competition," said SGA President Austin Simko '09, "we will address two main issues: affordability and sustainability at Wheaton College.

Relay kickoff a strong success

Colleges Against Cancer hosted a daylong kickoff to get the season going for Relay for Life, unveiling all of the information; including the event's theme and dates. "Wheaton Goes Global", the theme for relay, was plastered on walls, as it will be up until March 27 in Haas Athletic Center when the actual relay occurs.

Lyon's Den reopens for year with campus band

The formalized reopening of the Lyon's Den on Jan. 25 for the spring semester featured Captain French and the Toast Pirates and drew in a large crowd. Andrew Malone '11, Business Manager for the Lyon's Den, said they wanted to "start off [the semester] with a bang.

PACIE stresses campus dialouge on diversity

As a result of last year's campus climate survey the President's Action Committee on Inclusive Excellence (PACIE) has sponsored the creation of Dialogue Action Teams (DATs), also known as study circles, to discuss various social issues present on campus. There will be three DATs and each will have between eight and 12 students and an impartial moderator.

Campus discusses inauguration

Hundreds of students sat together in the bleachers of Hindle Auditorium to watch the historic inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama. On Jan. 20, 2009 the first African-American President was sworn in to a feeling of hope for serious change throughout the country.

The opening of Balfour Hood in Feb. 1986 brought much excitement with its all of its new features, especially its jacuzzi! Back then Balfour Hood was seen as a "new pair of shoes" or as a brand new addition to Wheaton's campus. Today, however, the campus center is seen as just another building on campus.
