It's the time of year when students, faculty, and staff members have the opportunity to submit nominations to recognize the excellent service of staff members and staff departments or teams.

This year there is also a new award - the Gladys Kelley Memorial Award - that will provide a staff member with access to $500 to use for professional development (e.g. to attend conferences or workshops or to purchase self-study materials).

Each year up to four staff members are selected to receive the President's Award for Outstanding Service. This award includes a choice of one week's pay or an extra week of vacation, a reserved parking space, recognition on a plaque, and a special luncheon with the president.

One staff department, committee, or work team is selected to receive the Vision of Service Award. This award includes a day off with pay, recognition on a plaque and a special luncheon with the president.

The new award, the Gladys Kelley Memorial Award for Staff Service, is gifted by the former Vice President for Advancement Catherine Conover and her husband Christopher Covert, in memory of Gladys Kelley, who for more than 28 years served Wheaton and its alumnae/i as an administrative assistant in College Advancement. Staff members may nominate themselves for this award, which will provide access to $500 to use for professional development.

Nomination forms for all awards are available from Human Resources or may be downloaded from the web at: http://www.wheatonma.edu/Admin/HumanResources/forms
The deadline for receipt of nominations is Jan. 19, 2007. Award recipients will be announced at the March 28, 2007 Service Awards program.
