As promised as one of SGA President Austin Simko's '09 main deliverables, he announced the successful partnership between Triboro Music Theater in Attleboro and Wheaton College at the regular SGA Senate meeting on Nov. 18. The partnership will bring Wheaton's talent and resources to Triboro's space and direction in order to increase student opportunity to participate in a musical from one musical every four years to five musicals in a four-year period. The issue was on the forefront of Simko's campaign with SGA Vice President Leo Gayne '10. While Simko continues to hope to expand Wheaton's musical program, he acknowledged that in the short-term, this was a good step.

The SGA senators continued to fill open positions. After reviewing applications, the senators approved the appointment of Secretary-Designate Emily Firment '11, who will be taking over for current secretary Jessica Coons '11 next semester. In other appointments, the senators approved the appointments of Riley Waggaman '10, Chris MacDonald '10, and Jackie Presutti '11.

The Senate approved the constitutions for three new clubs during their meeting. The Spanish Club, which was presented by Sylvia Syracuse '09, will provide students who are taking Spanish an opportunity to speak the language in "fun and different ways." The club was approved and placed in the Educational tier.

SGA also approved the Water Polo Club. The coed team needs at least seven people to play, but has reached nineteen members. However, in order to play other colleges, including Boston College, Boston University, Dartmouth, and Yale, the team needed club status.

The final club approved was the Libertarian League. The Libertarian League was founded in an effort to reach out to the growing number of students who don't identify as either Democrat or Republican. The club currently has 3 members, but hopes with SGA approval they will reach a solid membership equal to the College Conservatives and Wheaton Democrats.

The new clubs were put in the recreational and education tier, respectively.

Simko also announced that progress reports on the recently chosen senate deliverables, initatives that the senate is working to achieve this year, will be due at the final SGA senate meeting of the semester on Dec. 2.
